We've already shown 9 major new features of Week Calendar 4, but there are still a lot more new options in this amazing update. We will highlight some smaller ones in this blog post.
Add Events into Multiple Calendars
A commonly requested feature is to add events into multiple calendars. A lot of users have their own calendar and well as a calendar of their relative, and they simple want to mark an appointment in both calendars. Previously, users did this by:
- creating the event
- copying it
- pasting it
- changing the calendar to the correct one
In Week Calendar 4, we've made it possible to select multiple calendars to add an event in. First, enable it in Settings > General > Multiple Calendars. Now, when adding an event, the calendar selector allows you to checkmark multiple calendars instead of just one.
Of course, once enabled this feature will also work for Default Calendars and Templates.
Better Search
One thing we learned from previous versions that most users could not find out how to search more than one month backwards and users did not now when the search operation did complete. (Yes, this was actually possible by dragging the search results down/up wards.)
We've learned from this mistake and made the search more accessible:
- by default, Week Calendar 4 only searches 6 months in the past and 6 months in the future
- The search interval can be changed to any interval
- Week Calendar 4 will show a progress indicator when searching
- The search is now more stable
More Badge Options
A lot of users love the optional activities badge on the icon that shows how many activities are left. The number shown was pretty straight-forward: all events from all visible calendars for the current day were simply displayed.
In Week Calendar 4 we made it configurable which options will be counted for the badge, based on 5000 items of user feedback over the past few months:
- Count all-day events if enabled, all-day events will be counted also
- Only count busy events, lots of users use 'free' events for something else than appointments, so we've added an option to not count them on the badge
- Multi-day events on each day, if an events span multiple days, enabling this option will count it on each day it occurs on. Otherwise, it will only be counted on the starting day
- Only specific calendars, if disabled the events in all visible calendars will be counted, otherwise only in the calendars specified
With these new options in Week Calendar 4, we are confident the badge will represent the real number of events of our users much better.
Week View Improvements
We've made quite a few tweaks to the week view, of which we will discuss a few here:
Pin number of visible days
It's now possible to pin the number of visible days. Before, when Week Calendar was restarted, the week view would revert to 5 or 7 visible days. In Week Calendar 4, users can specify in Settings > Day & Week > Number of Visible Days that the week view always show a predefined number of days.
Make Current Day Larger
This is one we did quite some research on and is loved by a lot of users. When enabling Settings > Day & Week > Make Current Day Larger, the current day in the week view will be larger in width than the other days:
The idea behind this is that the most relevant information should have the best focus. The most relevant information in the week view is always the current day, so we make it a tad wider with this option enabled to make items much more readable. Readability scores improved up to 120% for the current day.
Better Layout
In Week Calendar 4, we've tweaked the layout engine to resolve border cases better. We've also fixed some 1-pixel gaps between events.
Month View Improvements
While Week Calendar 4 has a brand new mini month view, the old month view got some good love also.
Darken Weekend Days
We've added an option under Settings > Views > Month > Darken Weekend Days to make the weekend days a bit darker. This was requested a lot:
Icons as Dots
Coupled with Week Calendar 4's new Event Icons, the Month view can now optionally show an icon for an event, instead of a dot. Enable in Settings > Views > Month > Dots as Icons.

Improved Performance
We've increased the performance of the month view by 30%, to make it even smoother than before.
Batch Editing
The month view is perfect for batch editing over multiple days, since it shows which days actually have selected events using a small indicator:

Disable Contacts Linking
For users who do not want to get contacts in the notes or titles linked to the address book, it can now be disabled in Settings > General > Contacts Linking.
Editing Existing Colors
Created colors can now be changed by selecting the color in Settings > Auto Colors > Customize Colors by tapping on the color and then tapping on the blue arrow button next to it.
When changed, Week Calendar 4 will ask you if you want to convert all events using the old color to start using the new color.
Scrollable Info Popup Bubble
When an event has notes, the info bubble popup will be scrollable (indicated by a small arrow). When scrolled, the notes will be directly revealed without leaving the current screen.
Reset Birthday Alerts
When changing the Default Birthday alert, Week Calendar 4 will ask you if you want to reset all custom alerts back to the new default.
These are a few of the bigger minor new options in Week Calendar 4. There are a lot more options to discover, which we will highlight with use cases on this blog in the upcoming weeks.
