Week Cal 5.1

Week Cal 5.1 will be released tomorrow with some great features we are really excited about. We'll be highlighting a few of them here.

Sports
First of all: we've added over 120 new sports and seasons which you can add to Week Cal easily: ice hockey, bandy, soccer, rugby and much more. For 0.99 $ (0.89eu) per league, you will get access to all data of the league: a calendar for each team. Each event is updated live with kick-off times, scores and lines ups as each match goes.

A New Action Menu
The user-customizable Action Menu is one of the most used elements in Week Cal: it allows users to quickly perform any action they want on an event, such as copying, sharing, changing icons, titles, colors and more. Over 40 actions are available, most of them customizable.

Week Cal 5.1 introduces a visually redesigned Action Menu, which shows up to 10 items at once and is graphically oriented:

In line with iOS6's ShareSheets, the Action Menu now presents the user with icons to perform actions, instead of textual buttons. This change makes it much easier to identify the action you want, since each action has a unique icon.
Up to 9 items (10 in landscape) can be shown on screen, instead of the 3 items previously.

Of course, the Action Menu is still completely customizable with new actions.

Share Events using Text / iMessage
Something a lot of users want is to easily share events via Text (SMS) or iMessage. Due to technical limitations, this isn't possible on the iPhone OS: apps cannot add attachments to iMessages or text messages.

However, Week Cal 5.1 makes this possible!  There's a new "Messages" Action Menu item, which, when tapped, will upload your event to WeekCal.com and generate a unique, personal web-link for your event and insert this personal web-link into your Message. The web-link points to a small web-page where the receiver of the link can import the event into Week Cal or any other app.
This way, you can easily share events via iMessage or text-messages.

Since we understand that your events are valuable, the events are sent to WeekCal.com over a secure SSL connection. The link that will be generated is unique and  can not be guessed by others: only you and your friends will have access to the event via the web-link.

At any time, you or your friends can remove the event from WeekCal.com by going to the web-page and tapping on 'Remove event'. We will also automatically do this for you after 1 month, so old events don't hang around on WeekCal.com forever.

Duration Picker on iPhone 5
The iPhone 5 has a larger screen than previous models. Week Cal takes advantage of this extra screen real estate by adding a duration picker to the 'Start/End' event time screen on the iPhone 5:

Swipe the duration bar to reveal more options or tap-&-hold to customizable the available duration options.

And much more...
Those are just the features we are really excited about: there are much more improvements in Week Cal 5.1, such as performance improvements, new icons, better Facebook integration.

We're also working on some really new exciting (and larger) things: stay tuned!

Availability
Week Cal 5.1 will be available Tuesday 30 October and will show up as a free update in the App Store.
